Resolution and Denoising in Near-Field Imaging

چکیده
We consider the inverse problem of reconstructing surface displacements from noisy acoustic measurements collected at a distance from the surface that is comparable to the wavelength. As the detectors move closer to the surface and information from evanescent waves is recorded, the resolution of the image improves up to a level that is limited by the signal to noise ratio (SNR). We review this basic trade-off in near-field imaging with narrowband signals and then extend it to broadband signals. We find that the resolution in broadband nearfield imaging is enhanced because the SNR effectively increases with increasing bandwidth. We present the results of numerical simulations to illustrate this enhancement of the resolution. PACS numbers: 43.60.Gk, 43.60.Cg, 43.60.Sx Resolution and Denoising in Near-Field Imaging 2

Design and fabrication of a high-Q near-field probe for subsurface crack detection
Non-destructive detection and evaluation of invisible cracks in metal structures is an important matter in several critical environments including ground transportation, air transportation and power plants. In this paper, a high-Q near-field Microwave probe is designed and fabricated using defected ground structures for surface and subsurface crack detection in metal structures. For this purpos...
متن کاملA Bayesian approach for image denoising in MRI
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a notable medical imaging technique that is based on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). MRI is a safe imaging method with high contrast between soft tissues, which made it the most popular imaging technique in clinical applications. MR Imagechr('39')s visual quality plays a vital role in medical diagnostics that can be severely corrupted by existing noise duri...
متن کاملCalculation of Positron Distribution in the Presence of a Uniform Magnetic Field for the Improvement of Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Imaging Using GEANT4 Toolkit
Introduction Range and diffusion of positron-emitting radiopharmaceuticals are important parameters for image resolution in positron emission tomography (PET). In this study, GEANT4 toolkit was applied to study positron diffusion in soft tissues with and without a magnetic field for six commonly used isotopes in PET imaging including 11C, 13N, 15O, 18F, 68Ga, and 82Rb. متن کاملThe effect of earth magnetic field on the function of nuclear medicine imaging systems (SPECT)
Background: The nuclear medicine systems are very sensitive to the variation of the magnetic field. Photomultiplier tubes amplify low energy light signal and change it into electrical current. Low magnetic field can produce some variations in uniformity and special resolution of SPECT systems. In this study, we tried to evaluate the effects of magnetic field on the function of nuclear medic...

Background and purpose: Imaging which is used in nuclear medicine is done using emit gamma rays whereas therapy in nuclear medicine is performed by applying radionuclide’s which emit beta radiation. Using Bremsstrahlung is a new field which is recently introduced in imaging. In the Bremsstrahlung imaging, collimator design should not be based on energy peak and whole energy spectrum should be c...
